Dooley collects fifth victory at Senoia; Clinches CRUSA Late Model track championship
For the final points night at the track, Matt Dooley piloted the Barry Copeland-owned No. 18 Rocket XR1 at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) on Saturday afternoon for the Pollard Memorial.
With 22 Late Models checked in, Dooley earned a front-row starting position in the 25-lap main event after stopping the clock second-fastest in qualifying. With a $2,000 payday on the line, Matt led the first 18 laps before briefly losing the lead and slipping to third. With just a handful of laps remaining, Dooley charged back to the top spot and held on to secure his fifth feature victory at Senoia in 2023. He topped Marty Massey, Cody Haskins, Corey North, and Jody Knowles who completed the Top-5.
The win also secured his 2023 points championship in the weekly CRUSA Dirt Late Models ranks at the track.
